Whilst Dodo Juice Hard Candy is being marketed as the generic hard wax suitable for all colours of vehicle, Banana Armour was the first hard wax the Dodo chemists released and as such is probably the pot most professional detailers reach for when protecting their paintwork with Dodo Juice.

As a hard wax, your life is going to be much easier if you apply the wax with an applicator pad. Soft waxes are fine to apply by hand where you can scoop them out of the pot but hard waxes are just that – hard!

With a load of yellow beeswax, banana oil and a healthy dose of carnauba wax, Banana Armour should be spread thinly over paintwork and then left to set before buffing it off.

Hard Candy

With the colour codename of “Pink” you’d be forgiven for thinking this hard wax was aimed squarely at the female detailer, but how wrong you would be. This generic Dodo Juice wax, like Rainforest Rub, contains candelilla wax as well as carnauba – but it’s hard in texture instead of soft.

This hard texture makes applying the wax more consistent, allowing for it to be used more sparingly and making it impossible to over-apply. The result is perfect curing, time after time – a factor that helps boost durability.

Hard Wax or Soft Wax?

One of the most common questions faced by Dodo Juice wax customers is whether they should be using a hard wax or a soft wax.

Well thankfully, the answer is very simple…

You use whichever you prefer! There’s no strict rule with hard and soft waxes, it’s just personal preference. Whilst there are slight differences in how the waxes perform, both will finish your car’s paint to perfection.

Soft Wax

Soft waxes are typically the easiest to apply, with it spreadable straight from the pot. Some customers prefer to apply it by hand and thankfully the soft wax lends itself perfectly for this with it’s lovely texture.

The downside is that if you use an applicator pad, you can easily get carried away and overload it and cake the car in too much wax.

Hard Wax

Hard waxes last longer on the paintwork so are well suited for the winter months when you might not be working on the car as much. They are also easier to layer thinly thanks to the harder wax recipe.

That’s all there is to it really – both hard and soft Dodo Juice waxes are easy to apply and weather well but each are slightly better in their own speciality.
